Special Moments Special moments. Sometimes we are faced with opportunities so large that they can only be described as blessings. The chance to experience such a moment, and realize that we are in the right place, at the right time, doing just exactly what we were meant to do, is nothing short of profound. To have a profound effect on someone else’s life, to be able to see joy in a face, and know you helped put it there is truly awesome. I have to tell you this has been a very good day for me. The lease up that I thought had fallen apart didn't. This has been a particularly hard case for me to put together, the woman has made major changes in her lifestyle and is really trying to make a new life for herself and her children. She had an apartment picked out, the appointment had been made for me to meet with her and the landlord, to inspect the unit and sign the paperwork. It seems the woman received notification that she had a court date in California to find out what would be required of her to get the rest of her children back and wasn’t going to be here for the appointment with the landlord. The landlord had been less than patient wanting to get this deal completed but for some reason decided to hold the unit for her. To make a long story shorter, a week later, I was able to complete the inspection and lease up for her (today). It is the first time she and her children have had a home of their own in several years. Not months, but years. The family had recently come out of a halfway house for her recovery and she is still working on getting four of her children back from the State of California. She knew I worked hard to get her qualified, things that normally can’t be overcome, somehow were. When the papers were all signed and the unit had passed inspection, before I left, I turned to her and said “Congratulations, you now have a home.” She was so overcome, trying not to cry, she turned to me with tears she could no longer hold back, threw her arms around my neck and sobbed, “thank you so very much for all you did.” I wish everyone could experience that feeling at least once. As I left it became apparent why I was able to overcome so many obstacles on her behalf. I did nothing but my job but I was blessed enough to be the person chosen to experience this with her. I was in the right place, at the right time, doing just exactly what I was meant to be doing. I was blessed.
