Given an infant to love and to hold
Miracles of nature, so soft to mold.
Mothers love babies no matter the size.
When she gazes upon those innocent eyes,
her heart takes a vow, I promise to love you,
I promise that now.
I promise to teach you the best that I can
all that is needed to make you a man.
I promise you shelter, a safe place to grow.
I love you more than you’ll ever know.
A mother’s expected to nourish a soul,
to raise up babies to adults pure and whole.
Never to fail and never to fall.
Be better than perfect to answer God’s call.
The desire to be all she’s expected to be
is all that she hopes for, all she can see.
How will I feed him, clothe him and be
all that God expects of me.
How will I teach her, guide her and be
the mother that she needs me to be.
I’m just a mother, no angel am I.
If I had wings no tears I would cry.
No fear I would feel, if I had wings
no threat to my child would ever be real.
Mother’s and babies need to be tough,
Cause love and desire just ain’t enough.
Babies need more.
Babies need angels to teach them to soar.
