Ask No More Forever

I will ask no more forever
the questions of my heart.
The quest for understanding
beget your reprimanding.

When the questions that you ask
are somehow brought to task,
You begin to close the part of you
that cared if the words rang true.

I wanted just a little truth,
to believe you understood it too.
You accomplished what it was you wanted,
feeling haunted.

I will ask no more forever
the questions of my heart.

The questions didn't go away.
Remaining here undaunted.
They'll come to play another day,
Sadness flaunted.

I was not searching,
to find this discontent,
seeking threads of my discomfort,
I wasn't hell bent.

You scoffed at their validity
with scorn and with contempt.
A form of self protection,
not caring what that meant.

I will ask no more forever,
the questions of my heart.

Keep your locked up secrets
in the confines of your mind,
but do not doubt what happened
when you look and do not find.

You must live with your mistakes
just as I must live with mine.

I will ask no more forever
the questions of my heart.
